The International Consortium on Landslides (ICL) created
at the Kyoto Symposium in January 2002 is an International non-governmental
and non-profit scientific organization, which is supported by the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO),
the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations International
Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR), and intergovernmental programmes
such as the International Hydrological Programme of UNESCO; the Government
of Japan; and other governmental bodies. ICL was registered as a legal
body under Japanese law for non-profit organizations in August 2002
in the Government of Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The present domicile of
the International Consortium on Landslides is Kyoto, Japan, where the
Secretariat is located.

Bid Annoucement for Data Input Works for Database of Landslides of the World
A new book: Progress in Landslide Science (Kyoji Sassa, Hiroshi Fukuoka, Fawu Wang and Gonghi Wang Eds.) was published by Springer.
ICL International Summer School on Rockslides and Related Phenomena in the Kokomeren River Valley (Kyrgyzstan) will be held from June 21 to July 6 (see the announcement and the guidebook).

The First Session of IPL Global Promotion Committee and the IPL Symposium
2007 (see Proceedings in PDF) were held on 22-25 January 2007 in UNU, Tokyo (Joint Photo).
The launching ceremony of the organization Committee of the First World Landslide Forum was held in Tokyo on 22 August 2006 after the signing ceremony of MoU between UNESCO and ICL (Brief report with photo).
MoU between UNESCO and ICL, MoU between WFEO and ICL, MoU between WMO and ICL, MoU between UN/ISDR and ICL, MoU between UNU and ICL, MoU between ICSU
and ICL, were signed.
On 27 June 2006, ICL President Kyoji Sassa and Executive Director Kaoru Takara and others visited UNESCO Headquarter in Paris, and had a meeting with the Director-General of UNESCO Mr. Koichiro Matsuura (Photos).
The 2006 Second Steering Committee Meeting of ICL was held on 28-29 June 2006, at Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg, Germany (Joint photo).
For strengthening research and learning on Earth System Risk Analysis and
Sustainable Disaster Management within UN-ISDR as Regards "Landslides",
and towards a Dynamic Global Network of International Programme on Landslides
(IPL), a Round Table Discussion was held on 18-20 January 2006, at United
Nations University, Tokyo, Japan(RTD-Full-Documents). As the result of the meeting, 2006 Tokyo Action Plan was adopted.
The Fourth Session of Board of Representatives and the First General Assembly
of International Consortium on Landslides were successfully held on 12
-14 October 2005, at Keck Center of the National Academy of Sciences, Washington
D.C., USA.
The International Workshop on Landslides in Machu Picchu was held in Machu
Picchu, Cusco, Peru on 12-13 September, 2005.
